Condor has lowered their fares again for a “limited time only”. There are some great airfares to various cities in Europe. However, I’d like to highlight an interesting opportunity for anyone considering a trip to Vienna or Krakow. Vienna is the location of one of a limited number of Category 2 Hilton hotels  at 10,000 points per night and Krakow has a Hampton Inn for only 5000 points per night in Category 1 which is a real find. Hilton is currently offering a targeted bonus on the purchase of points of up to 50% until September 16. (Mine received the 50%, my mother’s the 40% and my brother’s the 50%). Perhaps the title of this post should have been “The Fleeting Nature of Airfares”. When I checked Google Flight Explore today I saw new low fares to Spain and Finland in the $537-$589 range. However, in the time it took to write this post, they disappeared. I did learn, however, that when an airfare disappears from an airline’s site, it may still be bookable on an OTA like Expedia for a short while longer. I remember when seeing sub $600 airfares to Europe was something to be very surprised and overjoyed about – and you knew they wouldn’t be around for long. Now they’re a fairly normal occurrence. But these ones didn’t stick around so it’s a good reminder if you have your eye on a destination and a great fare appears, you shouldn’t hesitate too long. Fortunately, there are still some really low fares.
