If you’re always on the lookout for a cheap airfare it’s a good idea to sign up for the Airlines’ email updates. However, like many online merchants, if they send too many emails touting sales, one becomes a bit desensitized. At least I do. So today I decided to check out the Porter discount email to see how much savings were possible and what conditions applied.
Many of the Porter promos last for two days. This one is for bookings made by August 23 at 11:59 pm EST; 21 day advance purchase required and travel must happen by Dec. 15 with several black out dates (Sept. 1-6, Oct. 6-11, Nov. 23-28 between Canada and the US, and it may not be available on flights between 4pm-8pm Thurs.-Sun.) The discount also does not apply to flights that include a partner airline, and like most such discounts, only applies to the base fare.
The discount comes in the form of a promo code. This one is QK4XS9.
Here are a couple of examples where the Porter discounted fare beats the competition:
Halifax – St. John’s (Oct. 22-26)
Porter $230
WestJet $266
Air Canada $266
Halifax – Pittsburgh (Oct. 1-5)
Porter $306
United $344
Of course, there are always other considerations such as convenient arrival and departure times, duration of layovers and simply airline preference, that might make a higher fare the better choice. But it’s worth checking out these promos to see if they work for you. And considering the frequency of these Porter emails, if you’ve got some time and flexibility, you can perhaps wait till the next one arrives in your inbox.
