This week Condor Airlines announced that it’s bringing back the Halifax – Munich route. Although it’s just once a week, it’s welcome news to any Maritimers looking for more non-stop flight options to Europe. Currently, other non-stops include London Heathrow on Air Canada and London Gatwick, Glasgow and Dublin on WestJet. Last year WestJet’s Halifax – Paris route was suspended due to the 737 Max 8 situation and that issue remains unresolved (although it appears bookable as a non-stop starting mid May). Icelandair removed Halifax from its seasonal schedule for the same reason. [Read more…]
Best Western Rewards – Elusive Sweet Spots & Winter Promo
I recently wrote about a major change in the Best Western Rewards program. The highest redemption level went from 36,000 up to 70,000 points. Yikes. But after an initial search of various destinations I clung to the hope that redemption opportunities at the lower levels would perhaps be more readily available after the adjustment. Although I did find a few interesting options, I certainly wish there were a lot more. Not only that, several of the options I did find a few days ago have since vanished. [Read more…]

Many Best Western Rewards members will not be pleased. However, from my perspective, there is a silver lining as I will explain below. [Read more…]

No Co-Branded Credit Card In Canada – Should You Collect IHG Rewards Points?
There was a time in the somewhat recent past when you could earn IHG points via a credit card. Currently, the only hotel credit cards in Canada are the Marriott Amex and Best Western MasterCard. I know many keen points and miles collectors like using credit cards as their primary accumulation method, so the loss of the card was disappointing. For me, the credit card was never in the picture. Just Back From Gdansk & Torun – Price Info
Ever since I visited Warsaw & Krakow in 2016 I’ve wanted to return to see more of Poland. When an opportunity arose to book an affordable trip back in August, my mother and I decided to go for it. We had a wonderful time and I plan in the future to share more of my impressions of Poland and why it’s a great destination for those looking for a low cost trip to Europe. But for now I’m just going to highlight a few specifics that underscore that point. Here are some of the prices we paid for lodging, sightseeing, transit and food. [Read more…]
