A trip to Walt Disney World in Florida (or Disneyland in California) is getting more expensive all the time. With the recent announcement of Genie, Genie+ and Lightning Lane, budget considerations have really taken centre stage. Even some Disney diehards are now saying they’ve finally been priced out. In this post I’ll share a few ideas on how to choose a Canadian points strategy to keep a Disney trip within reach without sacrificing too much on the experience. [Read more…]

Redeeming Air Miles for Disney Tickets – Still a Good Idea?

Disneyland on Points (Aeroplan, Air Miles, TD Rewards, RBC Avion)
When it was announced that Disneyland and Walt Disney World would be opening a new “land” all about Star Wars, I knew that my brother and I would likely take a trip to see it. Our parents took us to Walt Disney World in Orlando many times during our childhood and my brother was a big fan of the Star Wars movies. We took advantage of a great opportunity to get a rate that is somehow both a bargain and a splurge. Our other nights were spent at a nearby Best Western on points. It worked out so well that we decided to try again this year. However, the website is doing strange things. We did eventually find a rate similar to last year so we made a speculative cancellable booking in case we decide to do a repeat trip. [Read more…]
Saving For Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – Part 1 Orlando or Anaheim?
If you’re a fan of Disney or Star Wars, you’ve likely heard about the opening of major new additions in both Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida. The one in California just opened and the one in Florida opens at the end of August. I’m sure it’ll be very exciting…and very expensive. If it’s something you’d like to experience, the first decision will be – which one should I visit? Disneyland or Walt Disney World? Here are a few things to consider when making your choice.
