As I mentioned in the Blue Jays post, airfares to lots of American cities from Halifax seem lower than they’ve been in the past. You’ve got the exchange rate to consider once you’re on the ground, but if you can find a great deal on accommodation or use points, a budget trip is still a possibility.
Here are a few examples of good fares:
Halifax – Seattle (Aug. 22-31) $494 on Air Canada; $497 American Airlines (lowest fare to Vancouver is $734)
Halifax – San Francisco (Aug. 23-28) $465 American Airlines
Halifax – Chicago (Aug. 29-Sept. 3) $391 Porter ($365 with promo code)
Halifax – Nashville (Aug. 24-29) $348 American Airlines
Halifax – Memphis (Aug. 24-29) $345 American Airlines
Halifax – New York (Aug. 19-23) $328 Air Canada
Other U.S. cities with fares under $400 on select dates include St. Louis, Savannah, Baltimore, Norfolk, Richmond, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Orlando, Myrtle Beach and more. Check Google Flights.
The cheapest fare to the States:
Halifax – Boston (Aug. 31-Sept. 3) $269 WestJet
Airfares can change in an instant, but if you’ve got some flexibility in dates or destination you’re reasonably likely to find a good fare south of the border if the recent past is any indication.
