For a long time I did not pay much attention to points and miles because I thought it would take an eternity to earn enough to redeem for something worthwhile. The turning point was a Priority Club (now IHG) online geography trivia contest. Miraculously, I won a nice bunch of points. Sadly, the contest ended prematurely due to some nasty hackers but winning those points was the push I needed.
