Best Western Rewards has a new promotion although its registration and booking period is quite short. When you register and make an eligible booking by September 13, 2020, you’ll get 3000 bonus points per stay until October 31, 2020.
If you’re already a Best Western Rewards member, you probably received an email about the promo this morning.
Here are the terms and conditions for the promotion:
Best Western Rewards® 3000 Bonus Points Promotion – September 2020 (“Promotion”)
Best Western Rewards® (“BWR®”) members (“Member(s)”) who (a) were pre-selected by Best Western® Hotels & Resorts to receive this offer via email; (b) register for the Promotion by Sunday, September 13, 2020, 11:59 pm MST; (c) have a valid email address listed in the Member’s account profile at the time of registration for the Promotion; (d) book travel between Thursday, September 10, 2020 and Sunday, September 13, 2020 on bestwestern.com; (e) complete an eligible stay* by Saturday, October 31, 2020 (“Promotional Period”) at any Best Western branded hotel in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean Islands, will earn 3,000 BWR Bonus Points for each eligible stay.
There is no limit to the number of BWR 3,000 Bonus Point awards each Member can earn during the Promotional Period. Members can earn 3,000 bonus points for each eligible stay. Promotion registration and BWR enrollment/membership required prior to the first eligible stay. Eligible stays completed prior to Promotion registration and BWR enrollment/membership will not count towards satisfying the Promotion requirements. BWR enrollment may be completed by visiting bestwesternrewards.com.
No extensions, substitutions, or replacements available. Promotion is non-transferable. Promotion is subject to cancellation or change without notice. All BWR program rules apply. Visit bestwesternrewards.com for complete program terms and conditions. Please allow 14 days after the eligible stay for the Promotion points to be posted.
* An “eligible stay” for the purpose of this Promotion is defined as a stay of one or more consecutive nights at the same Best Western branded hotel, at a rate eligible for earning points or airline/partner rewards, with the exception of a stay booked through an online travel agency, a stay booked through a tour operator, or a stay booked at a special discounted rate (see BWR program rules for further information on eligibility criteria). Multiple check-in/check-out at the same property with less than 24 hours between check-out and check-in will only count as one eligible stay. Eligible stays which take place during the Promotion Period must be completed on or before Saturday, October 31, 2020 to be counted towards the Promotion.
Each Best Western branded hotel is independently owned and operated. Best Western and the Best Western marks are service marks or registered service marks of Best Western International, Inc. ©2020 Best Western International, Inc. All rights reserved.
Promotion Limitations
The terms mention “pre-selected” members so this promo is apparently targeted.
According to item (c), only qualifying reservations made online between September 10th and September 13th will be eligible for the bonus. So, existing bookings won’t count. This is an annoying restriction. If you already have a reservation, you could cancel and rebook if the rate hasn’t changed in the meantime.
Aeroplan Miles
If you’re interested in Aeroplan miles, note that Best Western points can be converted to Aeroplan at a rate of 5 to 1. So you’d effectively be earning a bonus of 600 miles per stay with this promotion if you choose to later convert them.
Best Western Hotels in Atlantic Canada
While it doesn’t approach the number of Choice Hotels in the region, Best Western does have properties in places where few other chains are available, if any. They even have a dedicated page for Best Westerns in Atlantic Canada. In particular, if you’re travelling along the south shore of Nova Scotia, there are options in Bridgewater, Liverpool and Yarmouth.
Final Thoughts
If it were a per night bonus instead of per stay, this would be considerably better. However, if there are two of you travelling, considering splitting a two night stay into two separate single night bookings – one for each Best Western account – so you’ll receive the bonus twice. According to the terms and conditions for Best Western Rewards, individuals living at the same address may pool their points. This strategy obviously requires checking out and checking in again but it’s reasonably likely that you could keep the same room.
As it is, this is a fairly straightforward promo for 3000 bonus points per stay. There are no limited time gift cards involved, and with bonus points you have the flexibility to convert them into frequent flyer miles if that’s your preference.
