I received an email yesterday about a new Best Western promotion. When you buy a $100 Best Western gift card, you’ll get a $20 bonus card. Not the most exciting promo ever but if you have reasonably firm plans to to stay at a Best Western, then it’s not too bad. There’s an unfortunate catch however.
Here are the bonus card promo terms and conditions:
Buy One, Get One Promotion
For every $100 in Travel Cards purchased, the purchaser will receive (1) $20 bonus Travel Card. Bonus card (s) will be emailed to the purchaser. There is a limit of $500 in Travel Cards that can be purchased per customer during this Promotion.
Promotion available for purchases made between 12:00 am MST on June 1, 2020 and 11:59pm MST on September 30, 2020.
Valid on standard and e‐gift card purchases. Bonus cards expire December 31, 2020.
This is an online promotion only and is offered solely to residents of the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Other restrictions may apply. Offer not valid with any other promotion or discount. Bonus Travel Card will be sent via email separately from the purchased Travel Card. Offer subject to change and/or cancellation without notice. Travel Cards are subject to terms and conditions at travelcard.bestwestern.com.
Bonus Cards Expire December 31, 2020
That’s the wrinkle. You have to use the $20 bonus cards by the end of the year although the $100 gift card does not expire. During these times of uncertainty around travelling, the bonus card expiry date is a little disappointing. At least you have until September 30th to take advantage of the promo and make the purchase. Just make sure to carefully read all the details about using Best Western gift cards. For example, they cannot be applied to pre-paid bookings.
Aeroplan Promotion
If you collect Aeroplan miles instead of Best Western Rewards points from qualifying stays, be sure to register for the promo to earn 500 bonus Aeroplan miles per stay up to August 31, 2020 if you might find yourself at a Best Western hotel this summer.
Best Westerns in the Maritimes
There are 13 Best Westerns in the Maritimes (7 in New Brunswick, 6 in Nova Scotia, 0 in PEI) so if you have any notions of travelling around here, you can throw this promo into the mix when researching accommodation options.
