Air Miles sent collectors a heads-up email about another Bonus Boom promotion starting June 18, 2020. This one is different in a couple of ways. It lasts two weeks and there is a bonus of 95 Air Miles for using 3 Bonus Boom offers. There will be a preview available of the participating partners’ offers on June 16th.
Although this Bonus Boom promotion seems slightly more appealing than previous ones, it’s a little disappointing that the postponed Mega Miles promo that was supposed to begin in March has not yet made an appearance. The Mega Miles website stills says “on hold” but perhaps it’s on hold till next spring. Air Miles could however make up for it with a really great Shop The Block promo later in the year.
I see the upcoming Sobeys Atlantic flyer has a spend $200, get 100 Air Miles promotion. The terms do not expressly exclude gift cards which seems unusual, but I assume they would not qualify. One 100 mile bonus per collector. In the past, there were two recurring promotions, one for groceries and one for Sobeys gift cards. The gift card promo is preferable since you can spend it a little at a time and also use it at Shell or Lawtons.
There is also a “Blue Bonus” in the flyer. It says get 95 miles for buying 5 boxes of Cheerios although yogurt is pictured as well but with no mention of miles on the pop-up details blurb. You could possibly combine that bonus with the General Mills, spend $25, get 100 miles offer. The yogurt sizes don’t appear to be the same in each offer, but the cereal is the same. It would be a whole lot of Cheerios.
The Sobeys Blue Friday specials went away with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic but maybe they will return eventually.
Lawtons has the spend $35 on Compliments products, get 75 miles promo. This offer used to be 95 miles. Oh well.
I’ve also been getting email reminders from Air Miles about their BMO MasterCard limited time offers. The BMO Air Miles Mastercard is a no-fee card where you get 500 miles upon first purchase and 500 after you spend $1000 in the 3 months after approval for the card. The BMO Air Miles World Elite MasterCard offers 1000 miles upon first purchase and another 2000 miles after spending $3000 in the first 3 months. The $120 annual fee is waived for the first year. The World Elite card gives holders a 15% discount on flight redemptions within North America, two lounge passes and a good travel insurance package, especially for reward bookings. As with all credit cards, be sure to read the terms and conditions carefully and compare to other cards with promotions before applying.
Anyway, this Bonus Boom might be okay. We’ll have to wait and see what the offers are like. The last boom was more of a bust.

It’s good to see a few promos – regardless of « how appealing they are » as it reminds you of possible future travel and a return to « more normalcy ».
This is the time to accumulate if possible. Perhaps 2021 will be the time to reap the rewards.
