Mega Miles is a big Air Miles promotion and begins today, August 13 and runs until September 10, 2020. With some luck and a bit of strategy, keen collectors should be able to take advantage of this promo. Although travelling is mostly on hold at the moment, one can still build up Dream miles to use in the future or Cash miles to save on everyday items.
Promo Details
- Complete offers at 3 different partners, get 300 bonus miles
- Complete offers at 5 different partners, get 1000 bonus miles
Go to the Mega Miles website to see the complete selection of partner offers. While there, take a moment to read the How it works and FAQs pages.
Mega Miles Offers
Most of the Nova Scotia offers are quite similar to ones in the past, but some of the spending requirements appear to be higher. Also, as mentioned when the participating partners were revealed, Irving and Global Pet Foods are missing this time around.
Many offers run the entire length of the promo, but not all of them. There are a few with a very small window of validity such as the craft beer offer at NSLC (Aug. 13-15). It’s possible that new offers will be added but I wouldn’t count on it.
Here’s a sampling of reasonably doable offers in NS:
Sobeys – Spend $150, get 5x miles (FYI – there’s a Max-A-Miles promo in this week’s flyer)
Foodland – Spend $100, get 5x miles (as with Sobeys, check the flyer for Max-A-Milles bonuses)
Sobeys Express/Needs – Spend $20, get 10 bonus miles
Lawtons Drugs – Spend $40, get 5x miles
Pharmasave – Spend $30, get 3x miles; buy 5 Pharmasave brand products, get 15 bonus miles; spend $60, get 10x miles (Sept. 4-6)
Shell – Fill-up with gas (min. 25L), get 5 bonus miles
airmilesshops.ca – Spend $150 in a single transaction, get 50 bonus miles
Staples – Spend $100 in-store or online, get 25x miles (Aug. 13-19)
For Staples, if your purchase is over $150, buy it online through airmilesshops.ca and add your Air Miles number and Mega Miles code to stack two offers.
If you have a BMO Air Miles mastercard, opt in to that offer and spend $250 or $500 on the card at participating partners to get 250 or 500 bonus miles, respectively.
Best Offers For New Collectors
If you are new to Air Miles, or if you’ve never bothered with Mega Miles before, there are a number of easy offers available to you. Or maybe you’ve skipped one of these previously in case you might need it later on. Wise move if so.
airmilesshops.ca – Make first purchase of $20 at a participating store, get 50 bonus miles (gift cards at Indigo/Chapters and Rona are eligible for Air Miles but excluded at most other stores)
Rewarding Your Opinions – Join and complete one survey, get 20 bonus miles
Hudson’s Bay – Register to convert HBC Rewards points to Air Miles, get 30 bonus miles (no existing HBC balance required)
Samsung – Add your Air Miles number to your Samsung Account, get 75 bonus miles
If you think you can complete 5 offers without using one of the above, save it for the next big promo when it will very likely appear again.
Important Reminders
- Only one offer per Air Miles partner will count for the 300 or 1000 mile bonus
- Read the terms and conditions of each offer very carefully – dates, amounts, opting in online etc.
- You may use different partner offers in other provinces (ask a friend to use your Air Miles number, you use theirs)
- Keep your receipts in case you need to follow up about a missing bonus
- Be aware of first day glitches or problems with non-working offers
Bottom Line
Mega Miles is a good opportunity to boost your Air Miles balance. Obviously it’s unwise to overspend or buy something you don’t need, but if you can make this promo work with shopping you already had planned, there’s no problem. After its postponement back in March, it’s great to see Mega Miles return, although I would have preferred easier offers or a higher bonus.
