The latest Air Miles Bonus Boom promo is here. This is sort of a smaller version of the two major Air Miles promotions – Mega Miles and Shop The Block. It’s not as generous, but much easier to achieve. If you shop at any of the participating partners, you should definitely check it out.
Use 3 Offers, Get 95 Air Miles
This Bonus Boom is similar to the major Air Miles promotions where you receive an additional bonus for completing a certain number of offers. However, unlike with Mega Miles where you’d earn 300 miles for doing 3 offers, you only get 95 miles with the Bonus Boom.
The major difference though, is that you do not need to use offers at different partners to qualify for the 95 mile bonus. As long as you do 3 separate offers, they can be all from the same store. This is explicitly stated in the Frequently Asked Questions page:
Varying Offer Dates
Although the Bonus Boom is set to go from October 1-14, 2020, the individual offers each have their own validity dates which may be a much shorter time period. This is a detail that occasionally trips up a few collectors in these multi-offer promos so you really need to check the terms of each one carefully.
For example, Sobeys has 9 offers and only 7 of them last for the entire duration of the promotion. (Oddly it says “1 of 1” under the first set of offers so be sure to click the arrow to see the rest.)
Opt In Where Required
Take note of which offers require members to opt in online in order to receive the bonus. Others require a bar code be scanned while the remainder are described as “Good to go” – no coupon or opting in is necessary.
BMO Air Miles MasterCard Offers
If you’re a holder of one of the various BMO Air Miles MasterCards, you likely received an email about this offer. Depending on which card you have, you can earn bonus Air Miles by using the card at participating Air Miles partners. For example, holders of a no-fee BMO Air Miles Mastercard will earn 100 miles upon spending a cumulative total of $150. Gift cards are fine for this purpose.
Gift Card Deals
The best offers in my opinion are the gift card bonuses. Here in Nova Scotia, you could complete 3 offers just by purchasing Sobeys, Foodland and Lawtons gift cards. And remember that Sobeys and Foodland gift cards can be used at Lawtons Drugs or Shell gas stations attached to a Needs or Sobeys Express convenience store.
Sobeys – buy $200 in Sobeys gift cards, get 100 Air Miles or a 25 cents per litre gas discount (Oct. 1-7)
Foodland – buy $100 in Foodland gift cards, get 50 Air Miles (Oct. 1-7)
Lawton Drugs – buy $100 in Lawtons gift cards, get 50 Air Miles (Oct. 9-14)
Cash Redemption Offers
Sobeys, Foodland and Lawtons all have offers for redeeming Cash miles. You’ll receive 25 bonus miles when you redeem 95 miles for $10 off your purchase, making it an opportune time to use your Cash miles.
Product Specific Offers
Foodland and Sobeys have a number of bonus offers on individual products. If any of these items are on your grocery list those will be very easy ones to complete.
Save First Time User Offers
Considering the good selection of offers, and because the threshold to achieve the 95 mile bonus is so low, don’t bother with any of the low hanging fruit like signing up for surveys through Rewarding Your Opinions or making a first purchase via the airmilesshops.ca online shopping portal. You may need one of those easy offers for a more challenging promo like Shop The Block if you haven’t done them previously.
Missing Partners
It seems with every one of these promotions there are a few Air Miles partners that don’t participate for some unknown reason. Global Pet Foods was MIA for Mega Miles but it’s back for Bonus Boom. Shell is missing in Atlantic Canada this time, as is Irving. Staples is a no-show as well.
Bottom Line
I’d say this is a pretty easy promotion for any reasonably active Air Miles collector in the Maritimes. Moreover, it’s a good opportunity for those individuals who don’t tackle the Mega Miles or Shop The Block promos to earn some extra bonus miles on regular purchases. If your household has multiple Air Miles members, it shouldn’t be too tough to achieve the Bonus Boom bonus for everyone.
