Time for another Air Miles Blue Friday promotion. Check out the Sobeys and Foodland flyers to see if anything happens to be on your shopping list. An email also went out yesterday about a new Airmilesshops promo if you have any online shopping planned at Air Miles partners.
Blue Friday
Blue Friday is one of the best things going at Sobeys, Foodland and Lawtons. If you happen to need any of the items with big bonuses, you can really rack up the miles. Of course, you should be mindful of prices. Don’t overspend to collect miles; but if the price is acceptable and you can plan a Friday grocery shopping trip, it can be a great promotion.
What’s not so great is an apparent devaluation of one of the recurring total spend offers. In the past, “Spend $100, Get 50 Air Miles” was the usual deal. In the preview flyer it now says “Spend $125, Get 50 Air Miles”. That’s an unfortunate development. I hope the regular gift card promo does not suffer a similar fate.
Further, although Lawtons does not have a preview of its flyer online at the moment, I read in a forum that the Compliments promo has a similar downgrade and you’ll now only receive 75 miles when you spend $35 on Compliments products, not the usual 95 miles.
Mix & Match Event
This online shopping promo runs from February 25 to March 17. Spend $75 at each of 2 Air Miles partners, get 50 Air Miles. Spend $75 at each of 3 partners, get 300 Air Miles. This isn’t too bad if you’re a regular online shopper. There are also various multiplier bonuses at different stores as well. Remember that gift cards are generally excluded as eligible purchases. Two exceptions I’m aware of are Rona and Indigo.
This promotion leads one to believe that the regular springtime promo known as “Mega Miles” won’t be announced until after this one concludes, at the earliest.
Bottom Line
Always keep an eye an out for good Air Miles promotions to build your balance, especially if you just drained your account yesterday redeeming for Disney tickets. If you get a handle on what items typically show up on Blue Friday, you can potentially plan future stock-ups around it.
