If you’re an avid Air Miles collector you’re aware of the recurring flyer promo of 100 Air Miles for buying $200 in Sobeys Gift Cards. (Alternatively, you can get a gas discount). The June Air Miles email newsletter contains a heads up that this promo will be happening June 13-15, 2019. This one’s a no brainer if you shop at Sobeys, Foodland, Lawtons or buy gas at a Shell connected to a Needs, Sobeys Express or Fast Fuel.
Two other upcoming promotions are noteworthy if you plan to buy something from Staples or Apple.
Staples
The newsletter mentions a Staples 20x bonus for purchases both in-store or online of at least $100 June 14-16. See the coupon for full terms and conditions. Staples is both an Air Miles partner and a store on Airmilesshops. The 20x would be based on the regular earning rate for Staples which is 1 mile per $40.
Apple
On the main Air Miles website several featured offers appear at the top of the page. It’s annoying because these are not included in the regular offers list. And the selection of featured offers can change when you refresh the page. I see 5 at the moment and the 4th one reads “Get Ready – 20x Miles** is coming. From June 13-14, 2019 shop Apple and get 20x the Miles with your purchases, including iPhone XR and iPhone XS”. When you click “Learn More” it just takes you to the page for Apple on the Airmilesshops website. The regular earning rate on Apple purchases through Airmilesshops is 1 mile per $20.
It’s worth checking Airmilesshops on June 13th to see if any other stores are offering 20x the miles.
Note the MegaMiles bonus should be posting very soon so make sure your preferred Cash or Dream mile settings are in place.
Love this promo… Firstly, you can get all those points for getting gift cards that are sure to be used. Secondly, you can greatly benefit from this if you are an AMEX Cobalt holder. By using the 5X groceries Cobalt card at Sobeys you get (1) 100 airmiles and (2) 1000 AMEX Cobalt points.
If you are concerned about 200$ at Sobeys, no worries. Get the gift card on one purchase, and then USE this gift card to “buy” gift cards on a second purchase (at same Sobeys) to use at such places as Shell or Irving. Score.
