The big annual Air Miles promotion known as Mega Miles is now on hold. With all that’s happening as Canadians are coping with the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions and advisories, it makes sense for them to pull the plug on the promo for now. The offers were scheduled to be released this Thursday, March 19, 2020.
The Mega Miles website has been updated to indicate the postponement but there is no announcement yet on new dates. Presumably it will depend on how the situation develops in coming weeks. Hopefully it will go forward at some point.
I kind of expected this and I’m quite relieved. Mega Miles was set to be a good opportunity to earn bonus miles but the realities of life at the moment were going to make it difficult to capitalize on it.
Although thoughts of travel planning have taken a backseat to more immediate concerns of health and safety, I still look forward to using points and miles for future trips when life eventually returns to normal.
Was looking forward to accumulating Airmiles in the hopes of using them when things get back to the way they were. It makes sense to postpone, as people shouldn’t be encouraged to make purchases that aren’t necessities.
