We’re still in the middle of 2016 but it’s not too early to be on the lookout for good deals for next year. There are various opinions about when is the best time to book airfare. However, the best time is simply when you see a great price. If you’re planning on taking a trip next year but you’re not ready to book flights, it’s wise to start monitoring fares now so you can recognize a drop when it happens. Here are a few good sample 2017 fares I have come across recently. (Note – many of these are available on various dates in 2016 as well).
Halifax – San Juan $373 American Airlines (Jan. 21-28)
Halifax – Orlando $379 United (Jan. 28-Feb. 4)
Halifax – Aruba $430 American Airlines (Feb. 7-14)
Halifax – Dubai $835 Air Canada (Feb. 7-15)
Halifax – Myrtle Beach $345 United (Mar. 18-25)
Halifax – Dublin $632 Aer Lingus (Mar. 17-25)
Halifax – Shannon $610 Aer Lingus (Mar. 23-31)

Moncton – Paris $737 Air Canada (April 13-23)

Halifax – Dublin $676 WestJet (June 6-13)
Halifax – Iceland $686 Icelandair (July 1-8)
It’s possible to book flights into July of next year but the people who really should be paying attention to 2017 summer flights are those who hope to book using Aeroplan miles. The goal for many is to find availability on the Air Canada partner airlines that don’t charge the high taxes and fees on tickets. Here are a few examples:
Moncton – Brussels (July 13-21) 60,000 Aeroplan + $127.75 Brussels Airlines
Charlottetown – Zurich (July 13-20) 60,000 Aeroplan + $125.71 Swiss Airlines
Halifax – Amsterdam, Venice – Halifax (July 6-19) 60,000 Aeroplan + $151.36 United
