It’s now September but there is still time to plan a nice trip somewhere this Autumn. The airfares to Europe this year are the lowest I have seen since I started paying attention several years ago. If you’re contemplating a trip across the pond this is a great time to go. Here are a few examples of fares currently available for travel in the next couple of months. Some are available on later dates as well. If you’ve got time to visit more than one location take a look at open-jaw fares.
France
Halifax – Paris $592 American Airlines (Oct. 10-19)
Italy
Halifax – Venice $621 American Airlines (Oct. 13-21)
Halifax – Rome $594 American Airlines (Oct. 10-21)
Germany
Halifax – Munich $526 Condor (Oct. 7-14)
Halifax – Berlin $584 Condor (Oct. 7-14)
Spain
Halifax – Barcelona $538 Air Canada (Sept. 25 – Oct. 4) booked through Lufthansa
Greece
Halifax – Athens $648 American Airlines (Sept. 21 – Oct. 6)
Portugal
Halifax – Lisbon $645 Air Canada (Oct. 3-13)
United Kingdom
Halifax – Glasgow $504 WestJet (Oct. 10-16) separate tickets
Halifax – London $593 WestJet (Oct. 8-16)
Moncton – London $599 WestJet (Oct. 15-25) separate tickets
Sydney – London $580 WestJet (Oct. 3-10) separate tickets
Asia
There is currently a Flight Centre promotion to get $100 off flights to certain destinations in Asia. Book by Sept. 16.
Toronto
Moncton – Toronto $183 Air Canada; $189 WestJet (Sept. 23-26)
This crazy fare to T.O. is still around and at the moment availability goes till the end of October. If you happen to find a great fare onward from Toronto you might be able to piece together an itinerary and still come out ahead. Just remember to include a sufficient gap between flights booked separately in case a delay occurs. Obviously this kind of plan would work best if you’d like to spend a bit of time in Toronto as part of your trip.

Amazed at UK options. Those even have very low one-way fares, which can be interesting if you are creative.
I’ll be interested to see if Europe stays low for August 2017.
