There is a new contest from Air Miles this summer. This one is somewhat similar to a previous contest where multiple prizes are awarded within four regional zones along with a single grand prize. New this time is an additional prize draw for BMO Air Miles mastercard holders in each region.
Contest Details
Read the Official Contest Rules to get fully up to speed with all the terms and conditions of this promo which runs from July 20 to August 9, 2020. Also check out the Frequently Asked Questions. In the meantime, I’ll highlight a few things below.
Contest Prizes
There is one grand prize of 100,000 Air Miles.
In each of four regions of the country (Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada), there will be a draw for 25 prizes of 10,000 Air Miles.
There is also a separate regional draw among BMO Air Miles cardholders for 50 prizes of 5000 Air Miles.
How to Enter
Go to the Summer Giveaway website and opt in with your name, email and Air Miles membership number. You’ll receive one contest entry for every base mile earned at participating partners during the contest period.
From the website, here are the participating partners in Atlantic Canada:
BMO, Sobeys, AMEX**, Irving, PJC, Foodland & participating Co-ops, NSLC, NLC, Les Marchés Tradition, Shell, Kent, RONA, Global Pet Foods, airmilesshops.ca, Pharmasave, Needs, Timber Mart, Goodyear, Jiffy Lube, Action Car and Truck, Carpet One, Hearing Life, IPG, Nova Communications, Floors First, Spartan Industrial Marine, Universal Sales, Royal Environmental, Woodward Auto Group
Strange that Lawtons is not listed. Perhaps it was an unintentional omission from the terms and base miles earned will in fact qualify. (Update: I now see Lawtons is one of the partners displayed on the main page)
No-Purchase Necessary Entry Method
In addition to the above, or as an alternative, you can enter the contest through Entry Option B which involves submitting an email with a 50 word blurb about how you’d use your prize miles.
From the website:
To receive five (5) Contest entries without purchase, an Eligible Collector must submit his or her first and last name, complete mailing address including city, province/territory, postal code, daytime phone number (including area code), email address and AIR MILES Collector Number, plus a fifty (50) word or more original essay answering the question “What would I do with 100,000 Reward Miles?” and email to: Airmiles+summergiveaway@promotionsolutions.net (with “AIR MILES® Summer Stay-Cay Giveaway Contest” in the subject line of the email). The email must be received by Contest Sponsor no later than 11:59:59 p.m. ET on August 9, 2020.
Limit of one (1) use of Entry Option B per Collector Number per day, to a maximum of twenty-one (21) uses per Collector Number during the Contest Period.
Bonus Entries
If you’re already signed up to receive Air Miles emails, or if you do so now (with a 25 mile bonus), you’ll have your contest entries doubled if I’m reading that correctly. Update your member profile on the Air Miles website to receive emails or use the email sign-up page.
Conclusion
As long as you opt in to the contest by August 9th and remember to use your Air Miles card at participating partners, this is an easy contest to enter. Make sure you’re also signed up for Air Miles emails so you’ll get the bonus entries. And if you don’t mind writing emails, consider entering through the no-purchase necessary method as well. Did you notice that you can enter by email every day? That’s a lot of short original essays.
Good luck.
