Air Miles Bonus Boom (May 21-27, 2020)

Well, it’s better than nothing. Today is the first day of another Air Miles “Bonus Boom” promotion. Unlike the big promos such as Mega Miles or Shop The Block, this is just a collection of coupons with no extra bonus for completing a certain number of them. Still, any promotion is perhaps a good sign that Air Miles is easing back into normal operations and hopefully the future will bring something much better.

In March, we were supposed to see the return of the Mega Miles promotion. It was no surprise that it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The website is still up with the words “on hold” so it may still happen at some point.

The Bonus Boom offers for Nova Scotia are not too exciting and relatively limited. A few partners are missing, including Lawtons, Shell and Irving. Many coupons are product-specific and even the Airmilesshops offers are limited to certain online stores. If you have a BMO Air Miles MasterCard, earning 50 miles for spending $50 at participating grocery partners should be pretty easy, just remember to opt-in.

It’s definitely not the greatest promo, but on the bright side, I’m writing about Air Miles again and that’s a win in itself. These last couple of months have been some strange and scary times in the world and I look forward to better days ahead.

I agree that it’s an underwhelming promotion, but I will try to catch your positive attitude because it’s true that just having something to post about airmiles is a good sign! I do hope Mega Miles goes ahead. I have more time now to really plot out my strategy.

You gave me advice against booking airmiles hotels for our summer 2020 trip, and suggested instead to use hotel points we had available. I thank my lucky stars that we went with the hotel points booking because we’ve had to cancel and it was a breeze. If we had booked using airmiles I know it would not have been so easy…

Hopefully this small « promo » will lead to bigger ones down the road. The only one that makes sense to me atm : 50$ at Sobeys using my BMO card.
